The L'equip Model 228 blender has set out to take the power and reliability associated with commercial blenders and packages them into a good looking domestic blender that is considerably cheaper than commercial models such as the Vitamix Blender.
On first inspection the design gets the thumbs up, a simple but stylish design and a solid looking motor casing are apparent. The base of the unit is finished in brushed steel and although this looks great it is a bit of a pain to clean without leaving water streaks.
The L'equip blender has a powerful 900 watt motor that drives the machines blades which are made of stainless steel. Operating the blender is very simple as there is just an on/off switch and the 'speed' dial. The speed at which the blades spin can be adjusted by turning the speed dial. The speed range of the machine is 500 RPM to 20,000 RPM and so the machine is capable of handling a wide variety of kitchen jobs. There is also a nifty little speedometer on the front of the machine edged in chrome that lets you see the speed the machine is operating at.
As well as creating great smoothies, the blender can be used for blending hot soups, iced drinks and also for grinding seeds and coffee etc. If blending hot soups it is recommended the rubber sealed lid is fitted and that only 8 fluid ounces be blended at a time as an extra safety precaution.
The Polycarbonate Jug is simple to attach and detach from the blender and has a 1.75 litre capacity.
A tamper stick is supplied with the L'equip and this can be inserted into the blender while the blades are spinning to help to stir thick smoothies as well as break any air pockets that may form. A funnel cone is also included, this is useful for creating mayonnaises or other such recipes where a steady addition of an ingredient such as oil is required whilst the blades are spinning.
This blender comes with an impressive 6 year warranty, hats off to L'equip for this. In view of the power, design, capabilities and warranty that the L'equip blender delivers it has to be considered when debating which home use blender to buy.
We say the best blender at this price.
